forester’s house

After half a year living in a RV, Marek and Karolína managed to buy their dream cottage in a secluded spot in the Krušné Mountains. Their plan is to live far from civilization and cook and bake for passing tourists. How wonderful! But how should they adapt the building so it can serve as a bistro? How can they expand the house, and most importantly, how should they approach the overall renovation of such a unique structure? We were very pleased that for Mark and Karolína, the answer was clear: an architect.

Fascinated by our first visit to the Myslivny reservoir along the paved road between Boží Dar and Ryžovny, we wanted a little of that Krušné Mountains “flow” too. So we spent the first week at a nearby cottage, walking around, taking measurements, sketching, and trying to make sense of it all.

Myslivny takes its name from a former village, of which only two houses remain. One of them is a nearly 200-year-old stone building that originally served as a state gamekeeper’s house. Over the years, various outbuildings have been added and then demolished around it, wood sheds, storage buildings, garages… The current composition, rich in both form and materials, is thus a living chronicle of the building and its surroundings.
