Neratov municipal and community center

Three in One

The village of Neratov lives an active community and social life, but its current facilities have long been inadequate for these needs. The existing municipal office is unsuitable both technically and in terms of space, and as a result, larger social events must be held in neighboring villages. The architectural study proposes a new community center that will provide the village with dignified and functional facilities for municipal administration, social life, and recreational activities.
The main idea behind the design is to ensure it blends unobtrusively into the village environment and maintains a sensitive relationship with the surrounding public spaces. The concept involves dividing the functions into three main volumes: the community hall, the municipal office, and ancillary facilities. These functional units take the form of simple cuboids and are arranged compositionally with regard to the character and relationships of the surrounding buildings.
The community hall faces the village square, while the section containing ancillary facilities, namely changing rooms, restrooms, and a clubroom, runs along the adjacent road. The municipal office faces the road, thus integrating with the surrounding urban structure. The layout of the individual sections is defined by a partially covered triangular space with the pub’s back-of-house facilities and, at the back, a courtyard with a shed that serves as a barrier to the neighboring property. The building is designed as a masonry structure with wooden trusses and ceilings; the central section is conceived as a wooden post-and-beam structure. The flat roof is complemented by an extensive green roof with solar panels.
